Disney Infinity's death begins at the end of September

Despite being a franchise worth several billion dollars at this point, Disney made the strange move earlier this year to announce that it would be shutting down Disney Infinity, right alongside its halting of all game development. That not only means that no new content with come out for the mixed reality game, but that from a certain point onwards, its online functionality would no longer exist.

Beginning on September 30, all Android, IOS, Amazon and PC versions of the game will no longer be purchasable or downloadable and you won't be able to login to the online services either. Steam offline play will still be possible, but all community features will also be brought to a close.

Apple TV versions will also disappear at that point too.

However for anyone still playing on Apple TV, Console or Windows 8/10 PCs, you will still be able to download your favourite Toyboxes and community content until March next year.

Starting January 3 2017, no in-game purchase will be possible within the Windows versions of the game, and by March 3, the entire online functionality of Disney Infinity will be killed off. No more online services will run and the game will, in about every way, discontinued. Offline play should still be possible, but it will lack much of the game's true content.

It's a shame that Disney is bringing an end to such a popular franchise and surprising considering how profitable it is.
