If you struggle to get past day 10 on Don't Starve, the single player Tim-Burton-esque survival title, then perhaps you'd like to recruit some friends to help you last a little longer? That's now possible as today sees the beginning of the Don't Starve Together beta, allowing original owners of the game and new players alike to try the new game mode out.
Those who signed up for the beta earlier this year should have received their key codes by now, but for anyone that didn't do that, you can buy your way in to the beta for $5 for two keys (if you already own the game), or $20 (if you don't). However, that $20 code also gives you a copy of the single player version of the game.
The reason this is a paid for beta, is merely to placate those that were already buying beta codes from those that were sent them early. Some people were paying upwards of $40 per code and getting scammed in the process, so Klei is offering up the Frontier Package to give them a same and cheap option for getting in on the action.
Don't Starve Together changes the game up a little, dropping everyone's damage to make things a little harder. However those extra pairs of hands come in handy during the long winter days and when the hounds attack.
New multiplayer focused content, including Beefalo riding is set to appear in Spring when the game officially launches.
