Oculus VR has blazed a path that many others are attempting to follow with its Rift virtual reality headset, soon set to hit consumer grade with the release of the CV1 next year. It's brought about countless amazing VR demos and gaming experiences already, as well as some early forays into virtual reality porn too.
Fortunately then, Oculus has no plans to try and stop it.
"If it exists, there’s porn of it," goes the saying, or in our case "if it exists, there’s porn for it," about adult entertainment in more than two dimensions.
"The rift is an open platform. We don’t control what software can run on it. And that’s a big deal," he said.
Of course, trying to control the release of porn would be a move that would be nigh on impossible. Even if Oculus did create a closed ecosystem that only allows approved software to work on its hardware, people would always find a way around it and Oculus would spend far too much time chasing down those that violated its rules, when it should instead be working on building the best VR gaming hardware possible.
Fortunately then, that's exactly what it's doing.
