The big update to DotA that saw it officially move over to the Source 2 engine has now taken place, meaning the maps look prettier, the models are more detailed than ever and there's a new custom games feature as well.
This big announcement and the attention to detail has seen a lot of League of Legends players transition over to the alternative MOBA, which despite its large following and even larger prize pools at official tournaments, is still in a distant second place the LoL juggernaut.
Perhaps this new update will change that though?
Of course if you want to give this a try, it needs to considered that this is a beta, so not all may be well with it applied. However for those that are willing to brave it, you need to have DotA 2 installed, of course, and then from the Play tab, select "DotA 2 Reborn Beta," from the drop down. Click install and wait for the update to be applied and you're off and away.
The only thing missing from the big update is matchmaking, which Valve says will be implemented in the coming days. However everything else should be the same, including match histories, items, rank and friends.
It will all just look a lot prettier.
