If you're one of the few million Wii U owners around the world, but don't have a DS as well, then you'll be pleased to hear Nintendo has big plans to bring its whole catalogue of games to the struggling home console, including those initially created for the DS and its successors.
This was announced yesterday by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, who said the company was well aware of the strong back catalogue of games that it has and that bringing them to the Wii U would be a big boon for the console - especially considering the still somewhat weak lineup of games available for the system and the continued lack of support from third party developers.
Iwata did say that there would be some developmental headaches of getting a game designed for two screens on to the Wii U, even though with Gamepad support it too has dual screens and a touch input - though he did show off a demo of Brain Age working on the Wii U.
No news on when these DS titles will land, or if we can expect other title's from Nintendo's history of consoles. It certainly couldn't go wrong with releasing classics from the N64 and Gamecube era, especially since the Wii U is only backwards compatible one generation.
What games from Nintendo's back catalogue and list of handhelds would you like to see on the Wii U? I'd love to see a Miiverse connected version of the original pokemon games. How about some online battling in Red and Blue?
