Square-Enix has wrapped up its pre-E3 press gathering in style by announcing that Final Fantasy XIII will be a PS3 exclusive. The game, originally planned for the PS2, will be the first next-gen installment in the popular RPG franchise.
Final Fantasy XIII - Fabula Nova Crystallis will be a three part saga made up of a mobile phone based prequel Final Fantasy Agito XIII, the Final Fantasy XIII main game and Final Fantasy Versus XIII a sequel action title for the PS3 created by the team behind Kingdom Hearts.
FFXIII will be developed using the Square-Enix White Engine, a game engine developed with the next-generation of hardware in mind. Judging by the video shown at the event, showcasing a gun-toting, sword wielding heroine, FFXIII will truly take the franchise into the next generation.
In the shadow of FFXIII, Square-Enix also announced that a Dragon Quest title is being created with the Wii in mind, suggesting a vast array of possible uses for the new controller; the mind boggles.
