EA has decided to discontinue its Rock Band iOS game. But this doesn’t mean that the company will simply stop selling it through the iPhone App Store.
In fact, EA has decided to disable the game on all players’ phones by the end of this month. It is worth noting that the game is still being sold for $4.99 right now (it was sold for $9.99 at launch in 2010) and that there are no warnings about the eminent shutdown on the game’s page.
EA probably has its reasons behind this customer-unfriendly move. Perhaps this has something to do with music licenses and royalties. But the fact remains that this would never happen with physical media.
