Eidos Interactive has now confirmed that Lara Croft's latest adventure, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend will begin shipping on April 7th in Europe and April 11th in North America on PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC with Xbox 360 and PSP versions to follow shortly after. This will be the tenth anniversary of Lara and a lot will depend on how the game fairs as the Raider's latest incarnations were far from glowing successes.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend is the seventh title to be released in the Tomb Raider series, which originally launched in 1996, and is still one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time, with over 30 million copies sold. Lara Croft has transcended games in a way no other character has, including action figures, comic books and two major motion pictures starring Angelina Jolie.
Eidos recently also revealed information regarding the game's PSP version, created by Crystal Dynamics in conjunction with Buzz Monkey Software.
Lara will come alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, will allow the intrepid adventurer to raid tombs like they've never been raided before.
Based largely on the PS2 version of the game, the PSP version of Tomb Raider: Legend will feature a number of exclusive game modes together with a host of bonus reward content.
