In the last round of patch notes for Elite: Dangerous, a cryptic change suggested a secret had been placed within the game and nobody was quite sure what it was all about. Well now we do know.

I mean it. Don't read further if you don't want to know.
It's Voyager 2, the human made space craft that recently left out solar system, marking the first time that humans have travelled beyond the reaches of our own little corner of space. It's taken upwards of 30 years to get there travelling at more than 35,000 miles per hour.
And now the little guy is in Elite Dangerous. If you want to find it yourself, it's currently 2.1 million light seconds out from the Sun, or around 664 billion miles. This is mathematically accurate to where Voyager 2 would be when the game is based (3300AD).
