Fallout 4's base building mechanic is something a lot of people have enjoyed. Crafting themselves a little homestead, with a few base defence turrets, some aesthetic wall art, maybe a barrier or two to hide behind. But not everyone has just small aims with their fortress, some people want a real, actual fortress.
Take SeraphinFoad's Fusion Core Fortress for example, which is ringed with concrete blocks, topped with metal walls, parapets, gun slots and more defensive measures, like a network of turrets running around the edge of the facility and at every entrance way.
There's also a barracks for people living there, a giant power core and an armoury filled with various suits of power-armor for the compound's owner to take advantage of at a moment's notice.
Built at the Murkwater construction site on the PC version of the game, SeraphinFoad claims there were no cheats or hacks applied to make this happen, save for using a mod to remove the User Interface for screenshot purposes and the unlimited settlement objects mod to allow for so many items to be placed.
In total he claims it took around two days of build-time, but that much of that was gathering up extra resources like copper and wood to make it all happen. To help pay for it all there are huge water purifier and vegetable farms and in-case anyone should make it past the exterior defences, there's also a few guard posts which are manned with soldiers fitted with high-end elite gear he's scavenged together.
It really is a fortress.
