If you've been itching to return to the Wasteland for some expanded Fallout 4 play on the PS4, now is the time to do it, as that version of the game finally has mods that work. The 1.8 update went live over the weekend and there are 200 odd compatible mods now available for players to download and enjoy.
There are some downsides of course. The PS4 isn't quite as versatile as the PC, as you can't load in custom textures at the moment - so a lot of tweaked items or new objects look identical to their older counterparts. Custom sounds appear to be causing some difficulties too.
However this doesn't mean that the modding experience is ruined. Indeed anything that adds to the game using original assets should work without difficulty. That means you can modify aspects of the game world, like how other characters see or interact with you, how powerful certain items and weapons are, the ability to dismember fellow wasterlanders - it's all doable.
Check the comments section before you download, is probably your best bet. If other people have it working, you can probably get it working too.
If you want to see what's available, head over to the Bethesda mod page and take a gander in the PS4 category. It's got a lot on offer. Let us know which of your favourites have made the cut.
