Owl 2K18 is a sports management sim like many others, but instead of focusing on real world sports like Football or Soccer, it gives you control over a professional Overwatch team. You'll manage player rosters, skills, their accomodation, free time, streaming, coaches, pro-games, and more. It's still in development, but the early stages have been praised by fans as a potential new branch of the typical sports management genre.
When it comes to having actual games with other teams, you'll choose the heroes for each of your players, how they're coached and what kind of strategies they bring to bear during the game. How your selections gel with your players' strengths and how they match up against the opposing team will have a direct impact on how well your team performs.
You can even emote mid-match to inspire them on to greatness.
Player relationships change over time too. Losing games can see their bonds fall by the wayside and they can troll or criticize one another. It will be your job to manage that along with everything else.
Visually it's far from the most exciting of games, with a clunky, bland menu, and some low-quality images in certain places, but the potential is certainly there. There has certainly been enough interest that YouTuber Nancy Zhou will likely continue developing the game and with help from the community of growing fans, will be able to add features, and tweaks that will make the game even better.
