Crytek's, much anticipated, first person shooter, Far Cry, is definitely heading for the consoles. According to the developer, an XBox version is already being developed at a Ubisoft studio and will be released some time after the March launch of the PC version of the game.
Crytek insisted that it has given XBox development to Ubisoft in order to avoid XBox work interfering or limiting Far Cryfor the PC. Expect the XBox version to be considerably different to the PC one and not just visually.
The news from the developer doesn't stop there, there will also be a third platform for Far Cry which is expected to be the PS2, even though Crytek will not confirm that at this time. The developer's desire to have the game on PS2 is well documented.
As far as the rumors of a Far Cry 2, which surfaced following an interview by Uwe Boll, the German producer/director who bought the rights to a Far Cry movie, Crytek strongly denied the existence of any such project.
