The much anticipated Crytek First Person Shooter, Far Cry, has just gone gold. According to the developer the game will become availale on the "25th and 26th of March."
Online games retailers who used to list the game with an April release have, promptly, changed the date and some, EBGames for example, expect it even earlier, on the 23rd.
It is refreshing to see a developer making sure that their product reaches the public as soon as possible, even though Crytek did face problems in the process that had to do with their headquarters being raided by the German police.
Far Cry has become one of the hottest titles for this year, especially since Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 still have elusive release dates. In any case, as we saw from the two levels that have been released for the demo, the game is a worthy contender for Game of the Year regardless of what other developers are doing and the engine that powers Far Cry is bound to be used in many other titles.
