If you've been playing some Far Cry Primal on the PC for the past month, you might be one of the many who consider the game a bit too easy and not quite as pretty as it should be, considering it's running on the most powerful gaming platform around.
Fortunately then, it seems like Ubisoft has been listening, as beginning in April, Far Cry Primal on the PC will receive a new "survival mode," which essentially adds a 'hardcore' difficulty level to the experience. Die once and your character is dead forever and you'll have to start the game over, completely.
On top of that difficulty enhancer, players can also expect no minimap, a stamina bar that gets depleted throughout the day and animals and tribes of humans will be much rarer. Nights are also longer, darker and far more deadly.
Permadeath is there for your animal companions too, so don't send them in to die if you can't keep them safe - you won't get them back afterwards.
That's not something that many gamers want to experience, but for those that do, the option is there.
Also there too, for those with powerful graphics cards with lots of video memory handy, Ubisoft is also updating the aesthetics of the game along with the survival patch, adding the ability for gamers to switch over to 4K textures if they so wish.
We've seen that have a big effect on the visuals of other games in the past, with modders adding it to Star Wars: Battlefront most lately and making a big difference to how the game looks.
All of this will be added to Far Cry Primal on April 12, with the Xbox One and PS4 versions also getting the survival options.
