Square Enix's long-awaited recreation of Final Fantasy VII isn't a remastering, so much as a remake, and it will overhaul a number of different aspects of the game to make it more modern. That includes a major graphical overhaul, but also involves changing the combat mechanics to something more contemporary. For those that don't like the real-time combat system of more recent games, like Final Fantasy XV, though, there will be an option in the FF VII remake, letting them use a "time-based" combat system instead.
Called, "Classic mode," the combat mechanic will use the classic Final Fantasy combat interface and will have guages that fill over time, rather than as you perform actions.
"In the original FinalFantasy VII, you would wait around until the ATB Gauge fills up, and then select a move to initiate your attack," Final Fantasy VII remake producer, Yoshinori Kitase, said (via PCGamesN). "With Classic Mode in FF7R the team have re-created the same style of play!"
So anyone playing #FinalFantasy VII Remake in Classic Mode does not have to worry about the action side of the combat system, and can instead focus on selecting commands, making it possible to play #FF7R as if it were a classic menu-based RPG!

You should be able to switch back and forth between combat modes during play too, so if you don't like either of the options, you can easily switch to the other after trying one out.
This won't be a completely accurate representation of the original game, but it will be as close as the remake will get. Real fans of the classic game will still want to play it in its original guise, but the new version will be a substantial upgrade in a number of important ways and for some, the combat overhaul could create a brand new experience.
