If you're worried about whether or not your system can run the upcoming PC port of Final Fantasy XV, you're in luck! Square Enix has released a brand new benchmark using the in-game engine that will let you know just how far behind the curve you are, and how much you're going to need to spend to run the game on Ultra settings at 4K resolution.
The standalone tool is entirely free and clocks in at 3.7GB in size. As PCGamesN explains, it runs your system through a series of realtime events from the game, including a drivealong -- a significant portion of the game, for those of you who haven't yet played it -- a fishing segment with beautiful rain effects, a portion of high-stakes combat with all of the electric flashes and other elements that go along with that, and the big introduction of one of the game's Astrals, Shiva.
After running your PC through the ringer, the benchmark spits out a score which not only gives you an idea of how your system did and how well it will be able to handle the final game, but gives you something you can use to compete with friends and online adversaries alike.
The benchmark supports a wide array of detail levels and resolutions, all the way up to 4K, and HDR. You can also double check it against Nvidia gameworks' effects if you have a card from the green team.
Although the benchmark claims to not be playable, it turns out it can take some input at points. Using the arrow keys you can move Noctis around during the combat portion of the demo. Try it yourself. Download the benchmark here.
