While every man and his dog is starting to edge towards 4K resolution for gaming, whether on consoles or on PC, there are some games looking to push the envelope even further. Final Fantasy XV is set to debut on PC in early 2018 but unlike many of its 4K contemporaries, it's going to offer something more. If you have the hardware for it, Final Fantasy XV on PC will let you play at 8K resolution.
The game was already beautiful to look at on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but its PC port is going to be something else entirely. Square showed off just how pretty the game can look at a recent Nvidia event, utilizing a GTX 1080 Ti to deliver playable frame rates of the stunningly detailed open world.
The game will feature 4K, high-resolution textures, Dolby Atmos for improved sound, new Nvidia TurfEffects for improved grass and foliage simulation and support for Nvidia hairworks for improved hair simulation on Noctis and his pals and some of the woolier enemies out there.
There's also support for Nvidia Flow, for combustible fluid, fire and smoke simulation and advanced shadow algorithms and new high-quality ambient occlusion. You'll even be able to get up close and personal with the action thanks to a new first-person camera mode.
And on top of all of that, it will have support for 8K resolutions and HDR 10. Good luck building a system that can handle all of that though.
No word yet however, on how any of this will be supported by those with AMD graphics cards.
