Firewatch has now been released to a strong positive reception from critics - we'll find out what the fans think in a few hours when it finally becomes available to everyone. However we already know about one neat feature in the game that wasn't discussed much before launch: your in-game disposable camera can take printable pictures.
With a unique visual style, this makes a lot of sense. The game is stunning from certain angles and charming everywhere else, so having some real world, retro inspired photos from your time wandering around the national park is a nice touch.
Especially since these aren't pictures you print yourself, but ones that you actually send off for. There is an in-game system for ordering the prints, which come from a real world photo company called TechnoBuffalo, but they come with Fotodome branding, the fictional company in the game that is actually referenced in the script - through developers did admit that it was something that they added in a do-over of certain elements of the story, since originally it read "Fotomat."
There is a limited supply of them however, so TechnoBuffalo does urge gamers to buy early if they want to be guaranteed Fotodome branded packaging. Everyone however can enjoy the glossy 4 x 6 photos.
Unfortunately at this time this is a feature that is only available on PC, though that may change in the future.
