Ark Park, the game that takes virtual reality users inside the new world of ARK: Survival Evolved, but without concern that you will be eaten or shot, is not too far away at this point but beyond an exciting debut trailer, we don't know much about it. In Gamespot's exclusive first look, we get to see how pretty the game world really looks and how some of its features were captured from the real world and brought into the game.
Ark Park takes the engine, world and aesthetics of ARK: Survival Evolved and puts them into a Jurassic Park-like setting, where players can move through the VR world, interact with dinosaurs, the environment and even pick up and more real world objects when you utilise the Vive's latest tracker accessories.
One concern that a lot of people are having however, is that the game won't be optimised well enough. One of the big issues with the main Ark game, is that performance is pretty terrible, even on powerful systems. To run at 90 FPS in virtual reality, much may need to be done to make the game run well.
Fortunately while Wildcard is involved in the creation of Ark Park, it's actually being put together by Snail/Peacock Studio, so it should perform better than the main game. It also is shown operating smoothly in select scenarios in this latest tech demo, even when using full motion capture suits and interacting with individual leaves on a fern.
Are you guys excited for Ark Park?
