Five Nights at Freddy's 4 launches early

The Five Nights at Freddy's series has been an impressive success story for the lone developer, Scott Cawthon. Released originally in August 2014, there have been two sequels to date with the third (Five Nights at Freddy's 4) expected to release sometime in August. But no, here it is jump scaring out of our closets in July.

How fitting.

This time around you aren't running security at Freddy Fazbear's, but just trying to survive that night in your very own home. Some of the animatronics seem to have followed you home, which is a different take on the story.

Gameplay looks pretty similar to what we have seen in the past, with doors to check, lights to turn on and off and robotic evil to avoid, but there are no cameras this time.

Oh, did we mention you're a child? Good luck fighting off the animatronics even if you can find something heftier than your flashlight to clock them with.

Although FNAF4 is expected to be the last game in the series, the same was said about FNAF3, so who knows for sure. We do know that an expansion for this version is coming around Halloween, so expect some new content before long.
