Scott Cawthon is a man who knows how to strike while the iron is hot. Instead of taking years to produce a sequel to his hit jump-scare-athon Five Nights at Freddy's, he released one just a few months later, and another a few months after that. To date he's released four separate games in the series since 2014, as well as several big content updates and the more recent turn-based-RPG, Fight Nights at Freddy's World.
While most have been well received though, FNaF World has not been, with many, many negative views appearing on its Steam page. The big issues people had included missing features, an overly complicated system of upgrades and abilities which weren't properly explained and just overall poorer gameplay than previous games Cawthon has made.
He knows that too, which is why after just a few days of being on sale, Cawthon has pulled FNaF World from Steam and has offered anyone who bought it an unlimited refund. In his address he highlighted that people had been kind enough to give the game good ratings, but said that that didn't change the fact that a lot of people did not have fun with it, something he wants to change.
"Even though the game had a 'Very Positive' rating with 87%, I was not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting. I'm still going to work on FNaF World and polish it up. I'm busy creating a fully 3D overworld for the game. When I'm ready to update the game, I will replace the demo currently on GameJolt with the full game. From this point forward, the game will always be free."
