As if there weren't enough people playing Fortnite, Epic Games has announced that it's going to be expanding its most popular game ever onto mobile, increasing the potential audience for the game by hundreds of millions of devices.
"We believe this is the future of games," Epic Games said in its announcement. "The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want."
Destined to be "the same 100 player game you know" from the experience on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac, Fortnite on mobile will have the same content, same map, same weekly updates. The only downside is it won't be the same experience on Android initially, as Epic is bringing the game to iOS devices first, with plans for an Android release in the next few months.
Cross-platform play will be possible across PS4, PC, Mac and iOS devices, with Android coming later. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't seem interested in making the Xbox platform part of that collective, so Xbox One Fortnite gamers may be restricted to playing against themselves for now.
