The kickstarter funded, multiplayer murder simulator, Friday the 13th, is set to release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in May, seven months after its originally planned release in 2016. This game comes a full 37 years after the original movie was released.
The idea with the game is to ape the success of Dead by Daylight, a similarly asymmetrical multiplayer game. In Friday the 13th, players take on the role of either one of the many Jasons from the film franchise, each with their own unique powers and abilities, while the others play as one of up to seven different camp counsellors. It's their job to either escape the camp, or kill him themselves, but it requires teamwork, as much as not being the slowest when he comes chasing after them.
There are traps that can be built, weapons that can give you some kind of defence against him, and vehicles to repair to get you the hell out of there. But that doesn't mean Jason won't just smash it to bits as you try and hi-tail it home.
Even if you aren't a fan of this sort of game, you have to enjoy the super-80s-inspired trailer. Who doesn't like a bit of synth and video tracking bands?
