The Kickstarter game for Friday the 13th, which started out as a generic slasher horror title and later acquired the license for the franchise, has now been successfully funded. It received pledges totalling over $823,000, more than $100,000 more than it needed to go ahead. With that in mind there will be a number of additional kills in the game thanks to achieved stretch goals and to celebrate it all, the developers have released some footage from the game's very early, pre-alpha testing.
To make sure everyone understands where the game is at right now, a message appears at the start warning everyone literally everything shown in this demonstration is placeholder art and really this is to test the very concept of running around and trying to survive while a Jason-like enemy stomps after you.
With that in mind, it's not the prettiest, or the most obvious to understand just what's going on, but it's clear that it's a tense experience getting stalked through the dark woods by a slowly approaching figure. Players will have some resources to combat their ever-walking enemy, with a flare used in this particular instance, though not exactly how the owner intended.
The final game will feature 7vs1 gameplay where a group of campers try and survive the night or escape the lake, while Jason and perhaps one day other enemies too, chase after them and try and cut them to ribbons.
What do you think of the idea of this this sort of gameplay?
