Executive producer at Epic Games, Rod Ferguson, has said that when it comes to a Gears of War based First Person Shooter, "Never say never." While this doesn't exactly suggest that one such game is already in development, it does leave the door open for such a title in the future.
"It's all about what's interesting in the industry at the time and where fans want us to take it. We don't want to say never but it's not on the top of my mind either. We look at what makes sense and move in that direction," he said while speaking with OXM.
Epic is currently working with Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly on a Gears of War prequel. While Ferguson said that it was a much more cinematic piece than traditional Gears titles, you'll know what universe you're playing in. Whether that's a good thing or not depends on your opinions of previous Gears of War games. While the first one was ground breaking and the second quite epic in its scope, many complained about the third one's poor plot and writing, leaving many loose ends and forgettable sequences.
What would you guys feel about a Gears of War FPS? Would this be an interesting expansion of the universe, or Epic milking the franchise until its teats are dry and dusty?
