After long anticipation, GeForce 8600 and 8500 have been finally released, but only to disappoint hardware enthusiasts.
GeForce 8600 was the main target for reviewers' attacks. The 8600 GTS was outperformed by both Nvidia's 7900 GS and ATI's Radeon X1950 in almost all DirectX 9 tests. Both cards are at least $50 cheaper.
But the true power of the GeForce 8600 lies in its DX10 support, a feature that both 7900GS and X1950 lack. However, AMD (and ATI) is expected to launch its new DX10 lineup within a few days.
