Ahead of its expected release this month, reports indicate that NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1060 might not support SLI.
Scalable Link Interface (SLI) is NVIDIA's brand name for its multi-GPU technology which allows linking two or more video cards together to produce a single output. In addition to the rumors, leaked photos of the card clearly show that it does not have the SLI connectors.
Of course, it is possible that the GTX 1060 moves its data around over the PCI Express port without requiring a dedicated SLI bridge, just like newer AMD cards. On the other hand, the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 can do SLI only using a dedicated SLI bridge, and there is no reason why NVIDIA would change that for other cards in the same family.
Ultimately, we are finding it hard to believe that NVIDIA will just disable GTX 1060's SLI for good. Perhaps the company will offer different editions of the card, or perhaps the card's lower throughput allowed it to support SLI without the need for a dedicated SLI bridge.
