Gorn, the arena battler from Devolver Digital designed exclusively for virtual reality is finally entering Early Access on July 10. If you've been keeping an eye on various VR streamers over the past few months, you'll have seen it in action as many received early review copies of the game during its pre-alpha state. Now though, we're all getting a chance to play as it becomes available on Steam for the first time.
Gorn is a game about bloody, cartoonish conflict. It uses a real physics system so that you can grab, punch, smash and slice your enemies with a variety of weapons, or just rip their heads clean off using your bare hands. They won't be entirely bare of course, since you'll have a pair of HTC Vive Wand controllers - this game does not support Oculus Rift at this time.
You'll need an HTC Vive to play and at least 2m x 2m of space, so this game does require a bit more than the minimum most games operate under.
If you're on the fence about whether to pitch in some cash for this game now, it's worth noting that the developers have a decent pedigree behind them. Although Devolver Digital is publishing, it's being developed by Free Lives, the developers of Broforce and Genital Jousting. They know how to do silly, over the top action in a variety of guises.
There are no genitals in this game, but there is action and there is a lot of cartoonish gore. Think Conker's Bad Fur Day style. The game's action is intense and visceral, though not entirely realistic and it's coming for you on July 10.
