G.Skill has expanded its range of Trident-Z crystal-clad memory with new hexa-channel kits with 8GB and 16GB stick options, starting at 48GB (6x8GB) and going all the way up to 192GB (12x16GB). These kits all come with the same pretty heatsinks and range in speed from 3,200MHz to super-fast 4,000MHz.
Designed to work in line with Intel's massively powerful Xeon W-315X CPU with its ridiculous 28 cores and 56 threads, the new ram kits will not be cheap, but their bandwidth can reach as high as 122GBps for the 96GB "mid-range" version with its CL17 timings and 4,000MHz speed, as per Hexus. You can expect even more with the higher-end kits.
All kits run at 1.35v but may need a little extra juice to hit the highest frequencies at tightest timings. The top kit, at 4,000MHz runs at 17-18-18-38, while the more pedestrian 3,200MHz option has much tighter timings of 14-14-14-34.
Although nothing about these kits are mainstream and when combined with the $3,000 CPU will help push the overall build towards $10,000, it's still nice to see something so ridiculous actually available. More of use to those running productivity tasks than gaming, it still gives us an idea of what mainstream PCs may be like in the next 10 years or so.
Pricing and availability haven't been announced for these new kits as of yet but expect them to start showing up in fancy test builds at gaming PC makers in the next few months.
