G.Skill has now launched its Trident Z Royal Series DDR4 RGB memory kits and they are a sight to behold. The chrome polished heatspreaders come in either gold or silver coloring and feature crystalline light bars for the RGB lighting, each with eight individually controllable light zones for customizable RGB LED lighting using the G.Skill RGB app.
The new kits come in a variety of speeds and configurations. The smallest of the bunch is 16GB in 2 x 8GB configurations, while the largest goes all the way up to 64GB, in a 4 x 16GB configuration. Speeds start at 3,000MHz, with timings of 16-18-18-38, and go all the way up to 4,600MHz with timings of 18-22-22-42. If you want something in between though, there are some with much tighter timings and higher frequencies -- it all depends on what you want to pay for and what your specific system needs are. The highest-end kit requires as much as 1.5V to operate.
No matter which one you opt for though, they all come fitted with the high-performance Samsung B-die DDR4 ICs according to WCCFTech, which should mean that overclocking will be simple and quick, making it easy to unlock all of the performance of these top-tier modules.
These kits are now heading to retailers and will start shipping out to consumers in December. The only thing we don't know at this point is what the price will be like. Considering the speed and size of these kits, as well as the premium materials used in their construction, not to mention the ongoing high-prices of DDR4, we'd expect these kits to monumentally expensive.
Would you pay through the nose for this gold kits?
