It was only a rumour until now, but it's been confirmed that GTA V Online will feature micro-transactions, letting players pump real world cash into their digital bank accounts, letting them buy different cash cards that can be spent in the online world of GTA.
They'll come in four distinct flavours:
- $100,000 Red Shark Cash Card – £1.99
- $200,000 Tiger Shark Cash Card – £3.49
- $500,000 Bull Shark Cash Card – £6.99
- $1,250,000 Great White Shark Cash Card – £13.49
UK prices were revealed by Eurogamer who spoke with an online mode beta tester, but unfortunately we don't have US pricing as of yet, but as usual, they'll probably be direct currency conversions.
Of course the problem with this type of thing in the online game mode is balance. To help take care of this, Rockstar has apparently made everything a lot cheaper on line. The most expensive house will be $400,000 and the most expensive car, more like $150,000. You can also own only one house, though you will get a rebate when you upgrade.
Some things however will be more expensive, like weapon and car mods. You'll also need to rank your character up, so no one will be able to buy the best weapons at level 1 by sending $100 Rockstar's way.
What do you guys reckon on this? Fans or no?
