If you're a fan of Gwent, the card game first debuted in the Witcher III and since turned into its own standalone title, then you'll soon be able to play it on an entirely new platform. Gwent will launch on iOS devices later this year, with plans for an Android release to be announced at a later date.
"We’ve been preparing long and hard to adapt Gwent to smartphones," said Jason Slama, Game Director of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, CD Projekt Red. "Beautiful visuals aside, we’ve tailored much of our technology, including GOG Galaxy which powers Gwent’s multiplayer, to support mobile devices. I think our vision for bringing Gwent to smartphones combines the best we have to offer both in terms of graphics and gameplay. I can’t wait to share more details on the subject with you later this year."
CRPR will make changes to the game's UI and how it's displayed on devices to make it still easy to read cards and understand what's going on on a much smaller device, but few specifics have yet been released. More is expected to be revealed around E3.
In the meantime, CDPR has also detailed the first major expansion for Gwent, called Crimson Curse. It will introduce as many as 100 new cards to the game, most of which will center around new game mechanics and abilities. There will be five new leader characters added to the game also, including fan favorites and what we're told will be never before seen characters from the Witcher universe.
The expansion is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One priced at $35.
