Most security experts believe that the removal of OtherOS (the limited Linux version that shipped with the PlayStation 3) was the main reason why skilled hackers got interested in cracking the PS3 more than three years after its launch.
One of those hackers is Graf Chokolo who released an unofficial patch for the PlayStation 3 that adds an enhanced version of the OtherOS to the console.
The enhanced version is called "OtherOS++" and it has full access to the whole PS3 RAM.
