Apparently North Korea really does have hackers that can compete on the international stage. That or they just have some fans that love to make NK look digitally competent. A Kickstarter game called Glorious Leader, which lets you play as Kim Jon Un, has been cancelled after the creators found their PC's hacked and held hostage.
"As many of you know, over the holidays we were victims of a hack inspired by the attack on Sony," the project leader . "The hackers destroyed data pertaining to Glorious Leader! and other projects we had in development and locked us out of our own computers and wesbite. The timing couldn't have been worse as it hampered our ability to attend to the Kickstarter project."
He also admitted that the team had made mistakes with the pledge levels and were unlikely to reach their $55,000 goal.
The developers went on to say that they had also been threatened before over the game, but that losing data pertaining to other projects they had been working on and being unable to manage the crowd funding campaign meant that they had decided to kill Glorious Leader before any of it escalated any more.
However, they did say that they didn't think the hackers were in any way affiliated with North Korea and were in fact "amateurs."
