Half-Life co-creator and writer Marc Laidlaw has left Valve Software after 18 years with the studio.
Laidlaw singlehandedly penned both Half-Life and Half-Life 2, but he is now as oblivious to the series' future as any fan. "I am no longer a full or part time Valve employee, no longer involved in day to day decisions or operations, no longer a spokesman for the company, no longer privy to most types of confidential information, no longer working on Valve games in any capacity," he explained.
Laidlaw didn't rule out the possibility of his return to video game writing, but he doesn't expect to do so soon.
