Bungie has been working on Halo 2 for the PC for quite some time but
now the developer has announced that the game's release will be delayed, quoting refinement reasons as the main cause. Halo 2 for Windows Vista was expected to be released on May 8 but now Microsoft claims it will be delayed although it offers no new release date.
Without knowing the new release date it is difficult to speculate on the significance of the delay. The reasons offered by the developer, and quoted below, suggest a very quick release and the Halo 3 beta public unveiling on May 16 would definitely be a likely date candidate for the release, without anyone being able to fully dismiss the possibility of major development issues and a delay to fall or holiday 2007.
Bungie's statement however, seems to suggest that the game will be with us shortly, We're making some updates to Halo 2 for Windows Vista that should improve the install experience and address other technical issues, ensuring that the final retail version provides a fantastic experience for gamers. Given these changes, we will be adjusting the on-shelf date of the product.
