Halo 3 is set to hit PC in all its multiplayer glory in June, if everything remains on track. Confirmed by developer 343 Industries, this move would see the game move from its current "Ring 1" status of internal testing, to a more public setting in the weeks to come.
"Next week, we aim to get the completely [pared] down flight build into our partners’ hands, which is much sooner than usual," Tyler Davis, 343 Industries’ Halo community manager said, via PCGamesN.’ "Our goal is to have the Halo 3 public flight kicked off in the first half of June. We can’t wait to get the community involved!"
This is the same piecemeal process of release that every one of the Halo games currently residing under the banner of the Master Chief Collection have gone through and it's designed to make sure that the games don't release to a wider audience riddled with bugs and issues... like the initial Master Chief Collection debut was. With Halo 3 such an iconic entry in the franchise, Microsoft and 343 will want to get its debut on PC right, hence the additional rounds of private and public testing it's making its way through.
