It's not going to be a surprise to anyone that has had even a slight connection to gaming over the past decade and a half, but Microsoft's Halo franchise has been a popular one - despite the near endless issues of the big dud, Master Chief Collection. It's sold millions of copies across several games over the years, to the point where recently Halo managed to push its 65th million game.
That's a further five million since we crossed the 60 million threshold back in October last year.
Admittedly Halo has had a lot of games based in its universe. There's the original Combat Evolved, the console multiplayer catapulting Halo 2, Halo 3, 4, ODST, the remasterings, the re-releases, the ports and don't forget Halo Wars too.
Those games will likely sell a few more million copies between them over the next few years, but development isn't likely to stop there. Already there is Halo 5: Guardians set for release this October and there will likely be something after that.
The question is though, how badly hurt was the series by the failings of the Master Chief Collection? Will people trust a new Halo game, or will it suffer because people were burned enough with the last outing?
What do you guys think? Would you buy a new Halo game after the complete screw up that was the MCC?
