If you're planning to pick up Doom Eternal on launch day on March 20, then you'll need to make sure your system is up to the task of running it. After all, you can't play a Doom game at low frame rates, or how will you experience the visceral thrill of sprinting through the hapless demons of hell that stand in your way? Fortunately you don't need anything too powerful to run it — something midrange from the past few years should be more than enough for decent frame rates at 1080p and 1440p.
The minimum specifications suggest a CPU that is at least a recent generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 3 with 3GHz or higher frequencies. You'll want 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 970, 1650, or Radeon R9 470 or better. That's nothing too difficult to hurdle. These will get you 60 FPS at 1080p with low settings.
Recommended specifications are more demanding, but not excessively so. You'll want an Intel Core i7 6700K, or Ryzen 7 1800X or better, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1080 or RTX 2060 GPU, or an AMD RX Vega or better. With a combination of that kind of hardware, you can expect to hit a comfortable 60 FPS at 1440p resolution with high quality settings.
As usual though, if you want 4K or 100+ FPS, you'll need something a little stronger. If you're unsure, any of Intel's new Core i5 and i7 CPUs from the ninth generation, or AMD's Ryzen 3000 series will be excellent, especially if paired with a higher-tier RTX GPU, or one of AMD's RX 5700 or 5700 XT graphics cards.
Doom Eternal will launch on Xbox, PS4 and PC on March 20.
