If you have a high gamer score, it might not be a bad time to check your email, as those that Microsoft deems as "dedicated," Xbox fans, are set to get a free, full copy of Killer Instinct when the Xbox One releases on November 22nd.
Killer Instinct is a reboot of a Rare beat 'em up that previously debuted on the Super Nintendo and in Arcades back in the early 90s. It's going to be free to all Xbox One owners, but will only come with one character. However, if you're one of the selected few with high gamerscores on the Xbox 360's current Xbox Live, then you'll be getting all characters unlocked for free.
If you've gotten the email from Microsoft, it should read something like this: "You're a fan of us and we're a fan of yours. Thank you for your dedication to Xbox. We want to show you our appreciation so we're giving you Killer Instinct.
"We've unlocked all characters so you can hit the ground running. Watch your inbox on 22 November for instructions on how to claim your free gift."
This freebie puts these dedicated Xbox fans in-line with those that spend $20 to buy the "Combo Breaker Pack, which also unlocks all of the eight characters, six of which will be available on launch day.
There are other characters expected to be added to the game from the original game's roster as well as its sequel, but several of them have yet to be announced.
Get ready for a lot of DLC on this one, as there's already a costume pack version, known as the Ultra Edition, which will cost double what just unlocking the characters does.
Thanks CVG for the heads up.
