Although it might not seem like the kind of franchise that warrants a movie adaptation, just consider that the most successful films of the past decade have involved super heroes punching each other and giant monsters to death. When you bear that in mind, a Monster Hunter movie doesn't seem so crazy.
This announcement was made by series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, who said at a recent Monster Hunter Stories stage event at the Tokyo Game Show:
"While it isn’t related to Stories, there is a Hollywood movie adaptation of the main series in progress."
Although the details on the film are almost non existent right now, we feel confident in saying that it won't be a live action adaptation, as it would end up being so campy. Doing a big budget CGI version would make a lot more sense - perhaps something a little like the recent Hercules movie with The Rock, where multiple big beasts are taken on in quick succession.
You know there's going to be an epic montage scene where the hero farms Rathians for that sweet poison gear.
Who do you think will be the final big bad? Ceadeus? Jhen Mohran?
