Jonatan Soderstrom found that his Hotline Miami game is pirated and available for download through The Pirate Bay, but he decided not to ask the site to take the torrent down.
Instead, Soderstrom read the comments on the torrent’s page to find several pirate players complaining about bugs in the game. He then went on to help a few of them in troubleshooting their problems to get their pirated copies to play properly. Even more, he promised to release a batch to fix the bugs other users reported.
"I don't really want people to pirate Hotline Miami, but I understand if they do," Soderstrom tweeted, before elaborating that he knows what it feels like to be broke. "I definitely want people to experience the game the way it's meant to be experienced. No matter how they got a hold of it."
Last month, developer Sos Sosowski made a similar decision regarding the pirated version of his McPixel game.
