There are rumors doing the rounds that HTC has managed to sell over 100,000 of its Vive VR headset, so perhaps it's no surprise that it's going hard with the new VR technology. To help bolster its presence in Eastern markets, China Daily (via UploadVR) is reporting that HTC is set to build as many as 10,000 HTC Vive demo stations throughout the country, encouraging one and all to come along and see what virtual reality is like.
"We are aiming to bring the best VR products to the Chinese consumers, and all of our innovative ideas and projects will be executed here first," said HTC China's head of VR business, Alvin Graylin in a statement.
He said that HTC was going to try and get a VR headset in as many public places are possible, including malls, internet cafes and bars, karaoke bars - anywhere where people congregate, HTC wants them trying out virtual reality, because that is truly the only way to get people to understand just how immersive it can be.
HTC is making a big drive in China elsewhere too, having recently announced the VR Venture Capital Alliance, which will inject as much as $10 billion into virtual reality over the next few years, with much of that money coming from Chinese venture capital firms and conglomerates.
Have you guys tried an HTC Vive yet? What did you think of the roomscale tracking and motion controllers?
