Intel is about to release a new graphics card, according to a listing on an Austrian website. As spotted by @momomo_us, Austrian website Geizhals has a listing for the "ASRock Arc A580 Challenger OC", and all the specs you’ll want to know about are listed — with the notable exception of the price.
The A580 is the final piece of the puzzle for Intel’s Arc A-series of GPUs. The A770, A750, A380, and A310 have been available for over a year or more, whether as separate parts or within OEM systems, but the A580 has been missing. Now the A580 seems to be coming out, it completes the A-series as launched by Intel.
It looks to be a capable card. It has 3,072 shader units, 8GB of 16Gbps GDDR6 memory, and a 2,000MHz clock speed. The bus is 256-bit, but the picture reveals the GPU has twin-8-pin power connectors, which likely means the power efficiency won’t be as good as competitors. The number of shader units likely means the card uses the same DG2-512 GPU as the A750 and A770, but with 25% of the units turned off. It also seems to be on the larger side where entry-level GPUs are concerned, with two fans and tree slots.
The spec sheet shows it’ll have a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface with one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 2.0 ports.
The big question is how much it will cost. It’s not a hard gamble to presume this is the mid-range of Intel’s A-series, coming between the A750 and A380, but where will the price fall? The A750 has dropped to within $200 in the past, so it would make sense for the A580 to fall beneath this price. Performance will also, obviously, be a big factor in how well this card does. If it comes near the performance of cards like the AMD Radeon RX 6600 and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, then this graphics card could find itself a bit of an outside favorite for a number of gaming rigs.
Time will tell, but we’re certainly excited to see this card launch.
