Intel graphics drivers will auto-optimize for games

Intel's new graphics driver could make its existing HD graphics processors and the upcoming Kaby Lake G chips with AMD Vega graphics much more versatile by virtue of applying automated optizations for games, helping gamers select the right settings for their system's capabilities.

Although Intel HD graphics are far from ideal for most games, offering barely the minimum for most mid-tier games, let alone AAA titles, there are many millions of gamers all over the world who don't have access to decent graphics hardware. They can't afford graphics cards, or perhaps they're playing on a secondary system because it's within reach at the time.

Whatever reason people are playing on Intel hardware, the new drivers for Intel's HD graphics should cut down on the time they spend tweaking settings to get the most out of their limited hardware. The new driver will add a "Gaming" icon to the graphics control panel, according to PCGamer. Although not all games are supported, a number of popular titles are, meaning gamers who want to run with the automated optimization may find their games run a little better and even look a little better after the update.

Supported games include Call of Duty WWII, American truck Simulator, Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, Destiny 2, DotA 2, GTA V, League of Legends, Overwatch, and World of Tanks. This update will also act as a launch driver for games like Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age HD.
