Intel announced the release schedule for its new processors.
According to the schedule Q3 2000 will see the release of the 700 MHz Celeron and the 933MHz and 1 GHz Pentium 3'S.
Q4 2000 will have the 733 and 766 MHz Celerons the Pentium 3 1 GHz and will introduce the Pentium 4 1.3 AND 1.4 GHz models,
Finally Q1 2001 will sport the 766 and 800 MHz Celeron's, the 666 and 700 MHz new Timna processors, a 1.13 GHz Pentium 3 model and finally the Pentium 4 1.4 and 1.5 GHz processors.
This announcement was accompanied with the new Intel prices which, probably as a reaction to AMD pricing reports, slashed prices.
Intel's family of Pentium III processors is now available at a lower price. The Santa Clara based company cut the PIII's prices by up to 24 percent. The 933MHz model dropped 10 percent, and is now $699, while the slower 750MHz chip is now $262. The PIII Xeon processors also received a price drop. The 933MHz is now $719, and the 866MHz is $515. Intel made no announcement regarding price arrangements on 1GHz+ chips.
