Intel Strikes at Traditional AMD Strength

The introductin of the new 2.8GHz, 2.66GHz and 2.6GHz Pentium 4's was bound to lead to new pricing by the company. This time however, Intel decided to challenge what has so far been AMD's strength. Price cuts introduced late last week include a staggering 62 percent drop in the price of the 2.53GHz Pentium 4 using a 533MHz front side bus.
Together with the new P4 releases Intel also introduced the 2.0GHz Pentium4 Celeron, meaning that the Pentium III Willamette processors are on their way out, and the 2.2GHz Pentium 4M.
