Although we're still a few months off from the official release of Jurassic World Evolution -- the game will debut alongside the new movie -- early test gameplay appears to show quite a strong sim title. There's power to manage, DNA to sequence for new dinosaurs, all of the various park-building aspects of rollercoaster games to work with and of course the ever-present danger of a dino escaping and eating up your visitors and park workers alike.
Eurogamer spent three-quarters of an hour playing through some of the earliest elements of the game and it looked at a number of different elements of the game. They acquire "dino DNA" they research new dinosaur "upgrades," create power grids, buildings, visitor features and more.
The most obvious first point in the game is how good it looks. Jurassic World Evolution is gorgeous, with dense, lush foliage, open plains areas and swamp surrounded lakes for dinosaurs to wallow in. The dinosaurs too move naturally and with grace and weight to them and the interface is wonderfully unintrusive. This is not a free to play mobile game covered in buttons and pushes towards microtransactions.
Beyond the park itself, there are also landscaping elements and entirely free fence-building, so you can build the park of your dreams, rather than just slapping down predesigned enclosures.
Look forward to Jurassic Park evolution PC, PS4 and Xbox One in mid-June.
