Just Cause 3 confirmed for next year, will not have micro-transactions

Avalanche Studios, the developer of Just Cause 2 and The Hunter, has officially announced Just Cause 3, following on from the leaks last week. Those screenshots have been confirmed as very early in the game's developmental life cycle, with what's been described as experimental features. Some of those included the micro-payment system which has now been removed.

"Those leaked screenshots were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3," said chief creative officer at Avalanche, Chris Sundberg. "Like most games, this one went through an exploratory phase where we looked at different control schemes, different technologies, different business models. Those leaked screenshots show aspects of that process, and in no way reflect the game we are making today."

He went on to confirm that there would be no micro-transcations in the game and that it would be a retail release, with a full price tag. DLC may come in the future he said, but that Avalanche wouldn't begin working on that until after the main game was released.

As for the game itself, it's going to add new vehicles, weapons and abilities and will see you fighting your way over 400 square miles of tropical islands, looking to take down yet another dictator.

Expect more details to land shortly, as Game Informer Magazine's upcoming issue has a lot of details on it.

Just Cause 3 will hit Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime next year.
